Burn your MP3 files to a data or music CD

Most Media players or CD burners (like Windows Media Player, Itunes, Real player, Winamp or Roxio) normally offer you the choice between Data CD or Music CD when you want to burn your files on your CD:

  • Data CD - !Recommended!

The MP3 files are kept in MP3 format. For play back on your computer or a CD player with MP3 CD option.

This MP3 CD option is available on most recent CD players but not on the older ones. This means for instance that if you want to play your Data CD in your car's CD player, make sure that your CD player is a recent model (last two years) and offers the Data CD option.

Because MP3 files are relatively small, you can put dozens of hours on just one CD.

  • Music CD

This is the traditional CD which usually plays on your CD player. All CD's you buy from music shops are in that format.  Use this option if you plan to play your audios on CD player mainly. The CD's will play on your computer as well.

When you burn your MP3 files to a music CD, The MP3 files are first converted to another audio format. The new audio files are much bigger than MP3 files. This means that you can only put a maximum of 90 min on one CD.

If you purchased an MP3 audio program which contains 4 hours of audios, and you want to create music CDs with them, you'll have to use three CD's to burn all the content.

Because of the respective size of the files, if you have the choice between the Data CD and the music CD format, it is highly recommended that you choose the data CD rather than the music CD format. That way, you'll be able to put all your program's content on just one CD.

Simply open your file(s) with your media player or CD burner, select your preferred option and follow the step by step instructions on your media player or CD burner.

If your MP3 takes too long to start playing

If you click on an MP3 link and it takes a couple of minutes or more for your file to start playing

This is often due to the fact that your computer uses Itunes/QuickTime to open the file.

Itunes/Quicktime this is the default media player for MAC users and it is often installed by PC users as an extra media player.

If you are a Windows XP user and you notice an unusually long time for your MP3 file to load and Itunes/Quicktime is installed on your computer, simply change your settings to set up Windows Media Player as your default player.

This is a very simple operation and will take only a minute.

  • Use your zip file to doanload the whole set to your Ipod, MP3 player or for CD burning - This is the best way to go if you want to save the MP3's to your computer, burn them to a CD or upload them to your Ipod or MP3 player.

Windows XP settings - How to maximize your experience

Set up Windows Media Player as your default player

For PC users only:

If you have both "Windows Media Player" and "Itunes/Quicktime" installed on your PC, these two players will usually "compete" to play your files.

If you use Windows XP, you will have a greater experience if you set your computer to play your MP3 files with "Windows Media Player" rather than "Itunes/Quicktime".

Windows Media Player simply opens much faster and gives you greater control over how to play your MP3 files.

To choose Windows Media Player as your default player follow these simple steps:

  • Step 1 - Click on "Start" in your windows area

  • Step 2 - Click on "Set Program Access and Defaults"

  • Step 3 - Select the "Custom" option

  • Step 4 - Under "Choose a default media player", select "Windows Media Player"

That's it! You are all set!

When trying to listen to your MP3 files, if the system opens again your Itunes/QuickTime media player instead of your "Windows Media Player", simply repeat this operation.
