Why Lazik surgeons don't want you to succeed with eye exercises

pretty simple! They make loads of money by offering lasik surgery.

If people learn some simple techniques to improve their vision it is not in their interest.

This is why they will discard other approaches like eye training: Because it competes with what they offer!!!

I want to show you this video simply to give an example of how a lasik surgeon will convince you of going for surgery:

Now, I am not a specialist myself. I have no clear cut opinion on this.

At the moment I simply want to reflect a polemic discussion going on online about lasik surgery.

More on the dangers of lasik surgery

Stay awake, ok?

Too much close object focus - Not enough distant focus

This is the basic challenge with computer and modern eye use:

Too much focus on computer screen which is very close to the eye.

The eye naturally looses the ability to focus on distant objects and details.

Combine this with natural tiredness and increased levels of stress. The whole eye object blocks itself and no longer relaxes.

poor vision is the result of too much tension stress and too much focused tension.

Alternate distant/close focus - Exercise

Gaze at the distance / Gaze to a closer object

Alternate rhythmically for a minute or more

Labels: ,

Simple!!!

The purpose of these posts is at the end to have a simple set of strategies you can easily apply if you want to improve your vision.

Keep it simple!

It has to be easy to integrate in your daily with no major effort.

Intuitive/Instinctual

Exercises for the eyes? Why

"Our eyes! In the information age, the eyes are really taking a beating."

"Our society has become so visual, many of us use our eyes for practically everything we do during our waking hours!"

"We're guessing that many computer users would agree that their eyes are being overused and abused rather than exercised in some healthful way."

"It seems clear that we may need to start taking better care of our eyes as well as our bodies"

"For one thing -- we can try to remember to take plenty of breaks from computer-gazing and other near-point work."

"Take "eye breaks" by looking off into the distance and focusing on many different targets"

What about "magic eye" hidden images stereograms - Do they improve your vision?

http://www.vision3d.com/sghidden.html

http://www.visionworksusa.com/magic_eye_exercise.php

I just tried to focus on some of theses images.

I still don't see the 3D images after a few tries

After a few minutes of focus, it seems to put strain and stress on the eyes.

Does not seem to work for me so far...

Speed Reading Interview Part 1 - Video

Labels: , ,

Marshall Speed Read - Whaou! - Fascinating - One to watch! - ***** - Video

I came across this one while researching the eye training topic.

While this concerns speed reading the concept is excellent and makes total sense. Can be applied to a variety of topics, skills and situations.

A few key ideas to remember!

Warning - A bit conceptual in the beginning.

Now the technique itself is excellent.

It really feels that this man is actually reading with his hand.

What about looking at a book's cover and instantly feeling what the content is about?

What about writing the title in this center of the page and adding around that title the ideas that you believe match what is said in the book?

Maybe your intuitive faculties are even more powerful and tuning in without reading tells you everything you need to know about that specific book.

Magical?

Have you ever bought a book and simply put it on the floor next to your bed and never read it.

After a month you realize you no longer "need" to read it.

It's almost as if you already integrated the content of the book without even opening it.

Reminds me a bit of Trinity in "The matrix" when she learns how to fly an helicopter through digital input without touching a manual and with absolutely no effort.

We might have abilities we don't even know we have, and the example in this video is stunning!

Really good.

It opens a whole new world of possibilities, right? :)

We are now quite off topic (Eye training) but we'll come back to it...

---------------------

One more thing on the speed reading topic:

This video shows that speed reading is not actually what people (including myself) often think it is:

Speed reading is not about reading words faster (although it might be with some other techniques or approaches) it is about grabbing concepts, key ideas and emotions out of the book you have in your hands.

In my experience, the actual eye perception is only a fraction of what is going on.

You tune into an object and this object tells you a whole story and wakes up a whole set of emotions.

A book is connected with the spirit or force that stimulated its creation. By tuning into a book, you actually tune into the spirit behind this creation.

This is why someone will come up with such a vast amount of intuitive information.

Your eyes need rest

If you don't give it to them, they get tired and this negatively impacts the quality of your vision.

Activities that put lots of strain on the eyes include:
  • Overuse of computer screen (more than 8 hours/day - Day + evening)
  • Stress levels too high - tired - overworked
  • Reading without appropriate lighting
  • Etc.

You need to change your behaviors to give time for your eyes to relax.

If you spend 16 hours a day in activities which ask a very high level of eye concentration, tensions naturally build up.

A simple technique to measure your progress

There are two ways to measure your progress;

The first one is a real measure of the quality of your view.

The simplest way is to write a text on a page with characters of 1 to 2 centimeters big.

You stick that page on a wall.

You put some marks on the ground at regular distances, for instance every 50 centimeters.

You can as well use natural maks on the floor like a pattern on the carpet, tiles on the kitchen floor, etc.

Now you try to read the text from a specific mark.

If you get used to the text, write another one.

Etc.

This is probably the simplest most effective way to measure how you are doing.

It is like stepping on a scale which gives you an approximate measure of the quality of your vision.

The second strategy is purely intuitive. You simply try to focus on objects and writings in the distance and estimate if you can see them or not.

This is more of an intuitive feeling. It's less precsise and you might interpret your results subjectively in a postive or negative way.

works great though as a genenral idea or impression of your vision's quality

Labels: , ,

Wearing glasses less often

This is another intuitive way to measure your progress:

it is by simply not wearing glasses for instance in the week ends or evening and see how you do.

This stage should probably happen after 1 to 3 months of training depending on how bad your vision was before

Variation!

Shift youre exercises, rhytms, intensity, moment of the day, etc.

That way, you mind stay awake and focused.

variation is the key to stay excited and interested by eye training.

Labels: ,

Don't get stacked on the technicalities of the exercise!

it odes not matter if your repeat the excercise 5, 10 or 20 times.

It does not matter if you do it right-left or left-right.

All these technicalities are simply vague guidelines to give you an idea of how to do it.

The real results happen because you exercise your eyes and energize them in one way or another.

There is no exact/right way to do it. Just do it the way you feel or the way it comes. As long as you do exercise a bit, results do come!

Remember to focus on fun, variation!

Your mind tends to get bored if forms are too fixed.

Labels: , ,

Eye care - Eye palming

Labels: ,

Eye care

These are an extra set of strategies you can apply which complement the exercises.

This could include specific massages, eye washing, and using other products.

I'll check this in depth later

Labels: ,

Exercise - close/open eyes - 3 seconds each - 10 repetitions

Labels: ,

In depth transformation

This is a fact that is usually underestimated.

The real change when you train either your eyes or your body happens not only physically but on the mind and energy level as well.

This means that your being readapts itself to a new more healthy and energized state.

Change requires focus and energy and sometimes, your body/energy/mind tedn to resist change because you have little energy to invest in that process.

The goal is to take small steps which are fun, light and freeing and expand from there.

Think long term.

What is a training rhythm that you can easily maintain on the long term without major effort.

Labels: ,

The key to succeed

It is precisely to find a rhythm which is suitable and non demanding.

the techniques are easy but to get results, you need to focus a bit on them and practice them.

Don't use your will power alone.

Don't force yourself.

Go with your own flow.

Be flexible with time.

Start with very small steps

Labels: , ,

5 minutes/day

This is good place to start which should give you the results you want within 1 to 3 months depending on how much your vision needs to improve

You can relax in your discipline. the goal is not to ad tension. It is to enjoy it and choose a time in day which can vary from day to day.

Choose a moment when you are having a break or simply doing nothing in anture, for instance.

Be flexible and think of a rhythm you can easily maintain on the log term without major effort.

How to measure your progress

It is essential to measuer your progress to stay motivated.

You can create a monthly chart

horizontally : days 30 days

vertically: vision quality (1 - 10) (absolute sacle or relative to your own standards and experience? we'll come to that later)

Every day at the same time, use the measurement technique you choose and simply ad the value to your chart.

This will keep you focus on your progree and show you the exact impact that your eye training exercise has on your vision.

I'll come back later to describe exactly what to measure and how to measure it.

4 types of exercises

This is what I dentified so far

The first type is really eye movement

Like moving

  • right-left
  • up-bottom
  • circles
  • diagonals
  • etc

The second type is eye intensity or concentration exercises like

  • Focusing on a distant object
  • global vision
  • energy intensification without eye focus
  • etc

3rd type

  • Eye area massage exercises

4th type (this one is actually off topic from the original eye training idea whose goal is to improve vision, not really reading speed)

  • Speed reading exercises which speed up eye movement and ability to integrate information

Why train the eyes

First to energize them!

Second, to clear the tensions

third, to strengthen the muscles.

We train our bodies for optimal fitness. It's essential to do the same with the eyes

Labels:

Basics!

Eyes are supposed to function well.

If you were glasses or your vision starts to decrease, it is simply because tension is accumulated and the muscles and system that support the eye and your vision are not being energized and stimulated in a way which keeps them healthy.

Simple, isn't it?
