๐งจ Can I add olive oil during Stage 1 of refeeding?
Nope. Not yet.
In Stage 1, your digestive fire is just reigniting. You’re reintroducing hydration and mineral-rich density โ but youโre still in ultra-gentle territory.
Olive oil, while healthy, is fat-heavy. It slows gastric emptying, stimulates bile, and demands full enzymatic readiness from your liver, gallbladder, and pancreas.
And right now?
Your body is still calibrating. Adding oil too soon creates a digestive burden and interrupts the repair and sealing process of your gut lining.
So let it rest. No fats yet.
๐ฅ Then when is the right time to bring olive oil back?
Stage 3 is your green light.
Thatโs when your digestion has already handled:
- Fiber (unstrained soups + blended fruits)
- Complex veggies
- Slightly more density like steamed roots or soft fruits
By this point, your bile flow is kicking back in. Your gut lining has strengthened. Your enzymes are back online.
Olive oil in Stage 3 becomes a lubricating ally, supporting hormone production, brain function, and satiety.
โ ๏ธ Why not Stage 2?
Stage 2 is still rebuilding terrain โ youโre reintroducing fiber, textures, and variety, but not quite ready for oils, nuts, or heavier proteins.
Introducing olive oil at Stage 2 might trigger:
- Bloating
- Sluggish digestion
- Overstimulation of bile production
- Even nausea in sensitive people
Let the organs catch up first. Wait until Stage 3 for fats.
๐ฟ Whatโs the best way to reintroduce olive oil in Stage 3?
Go cold-pressed, organic, extra virgin only.
Start with:
- 1 tsp in your soup
- A drizzle on steamed veggies
- A touch blended into your smoothie or root mash
Observe. If digestion is smooth โ no bloating, heaviness, or nausea โ youโre good to go.
Then, you can slowly build up to 1โ2 tbsp per day as desired.
โ Recap โ Olive Oil Reentry Protocol:
- Stage 1: โ No way. Still too delicate.
- Stage 2: ๐ซ Not yet. Focus on fiber and easy chewing.
- Stage 3: โ Yes. Start slow. Cold-pressed only.
- Stage 4: ๐ข Full freedom. Oils, seeds, and healthy fats can return.
Timing matters.
Get this part wrong and you delay your healing.
Get it right and you unlock deeper cellular repair, hormonal balance, and digestive sovereignty.
Patience is power. ๐ซ๐ฅ
