Same fight. Same words. Same reactions. Same result.
You’ve been here before. You’ll be here again — unless someone breaks the pattern.
The fastest way out of a loop is to stop playing your role in it.
The Fight Has A Script
Most fights follow a script neither person chose consciously.
One person says X. The other says Y. Then comes Z. Then it escalates the same way it always does.
You both know the script. You both hate the ending. And you keep performing it.
The pattern interrupt is how you refuse to read the next line.
How Pattern Interrupt Works
- Pattern Interrupt — You do something completely unexpected.
- Pattern Breaks — The script loses its grip. Both of you snap out of autopilot.
- New Possibility — A space opens that wasn’t there before.
- Connection Returns — You’re no longer opponents in a script. You’re two people again.
Break the pattern. Break the loop.
Four Ways To Interrupt The Pattern
- Do Something Unexpected — Sit on the floor. Change your physical position completely.
- Change The Environment — Go outside. Move to a different room. Change the location.
- Change The Rhythm — Put on a song. Start dancing. Do something the fight cannot follow.
- Break The Script — Go for a walk. Make tea. Stop the conversation and restart it differently.
The fight cannot follow you into the unexpected.
This Is Not Avoidance. It’s Interruption.
You’re not running from the conversation. You’re breaking the loop so a real conversation can happen.
There’s a difference between avoiding an issue and interrupting a destructive pattern.
Do something unexpected. Break the script. Open new space.
