Not chemistry. Not butterflies. Fit is built from layers — here’s every layer that has to show up.
1. Attraction
You want them. Physically, energetically, undeniably.
Attraction is the spark. It’s never the whole fire.
2. Respect
You admire how they move through the world, even when you disagree with them.
Sounds like: “I don’t agree, but I respect why you see it that way.”
3. Everyday Compatibility
- Daily Rhythm — Your schedules, habits, and pace don’t constantly clash.
- Small Stuff — You can survive traffic, groceries, and a bad day together without it turning into a war.
This is the boring layer nobody posts about. It’s also the one that keeps the whole thing running.
4. Reciprocity
What you give comes back. Not identical, not immediate — but it comes back.
One-sided effort isn’t a relationship. It’s a part-time job with no pay.
5. Admiration — Where Attraction Meets Respect
You’re pulled toward them, and you actually look up to them.
One without the other falls apart fast: pure attraction fades, pure respect goes cold.
6. Chemistry — Where Attraction Meets Everyday Compatibility
The spark doesn’t disappear once real life shows up.
Sounds like: the same electricity on a random Tuesday night in as on the first date.
7. Mutual Regard — Where Respect Meets Reciprocity
- They Value You — Your opinions actually change their decisions.
- You Value Them — Same, in reverse.
This is respect that flows both directions instead of downhill.
8. Shared Effort — Where Everyday Compatibility Meets Reciprocity
Both people are building the same thing, on purpose, at the same time.
One person carrying the relationship isn’t shared effort. It’s one person carrying a relationship.
9. Compatibility — Where All Four Circles Overlap
This is the center. The place where attraction, respect, everyday life, and reciprocity all show up at once.
Real compatibility isn’t one good trait. It’s every layer stacking on top of the others until nothing is missing.
Figuring out which layers are missing in your relationship isn’t something you have to map out alone. If you want help seeing your own diagram clearly, reach out for coaching.
